Colour Me Happy!
This week the pre-k and kindergarten classes learned their colours in English and applied this knowledge to everyday objects.
Hoped for Outcomes
a.) Verbal:
- "Hello my name is..." "Good Morning," "Goodbye" and "Please."
b.) Cognitive:
-learning through art projects
-enjoyment & learning through music
-recognition and respect for class segmentations (circle time vs. core activity time)
c.) Content specifics:
- recognition (memorisation for kindergarten students) of English colours.
-fine motor skill usage
-basic letter tracing (kindergarten)

The letter of the week is: A/a ('Ah' as in Apple)
Monday January 16, 2012
I.) Core Activity:
-Students create personalised name tags so they can identify themselves everyday at circle time and we can all say "hello."
-Students can select any colour paper and any form of decoration that they want for their name tag.
-Kindergarten students: will trace their names in English letters to begin to familiarise themselves with their names as spelled in the English language
II.) Hoped for outcome:
-This is meant to be a light activity to help students familiarise themselves with the teacher and encourage creativity.

I.) Core Activity:
-Today students colour in the happy face worksheet according to what is written on them e.g one happy face says 'red' whereas another says 'blue.'
-This activity tests memorization and/or colour recognition.

I. Core Activity:
-Today using a variety of coloured strips of paper we create colour catapillars.
-This activity is meant to encourage students to select colours of their own wish, identify what they are and encourage fine motor skills.
-This activity is meant to encourage the concept of a rainbow.

I.) Core Activity:
-Using legos students work together to build houses and other 3D objects using specific colours (kindergarten.)
-Both groups of students colour and create their own page for a class story book, this activity is meant to allow each student to contribute to our class project book which we will read on Friday.

I.) Core Activities:
-During circle time we review what we have learned and done all week.
-Teacher directed: reads the story book we compiled as a class.
