WEEKLY LESSON PLANS:

*Monday and Tuesday were Russian Labour Day holidays---no school!*

Wednesday May 2, 2012

Kindergarten: because two students have recently returned from a fortnight abroad this day will be dedicated to unit materials review.

Pre-K: students in this cohort will also review taught unit materials, however, major emphasis will be placed on singing taught songs and building shape constructions (forms of beauty, forms of life) as a meaningful review.

Thursday May 3, 2012

Kindergarten: introduction to summer oriented vocabulary, this list will be extensive and as was the case with spring vocabulary a copy of the flashcards we use during circle time will be sent home with students in the older cohort.

Pre-K: students will also be introduced to the vocabulary words, however their list will be abbreviated and memorization will not be used in mastery. Students will create a special clay-vocabulary art project (see journal.)

Friday May 4, 2012

Kindergarten: students in will complete a more extensive version of the picture clay-art project, they may choose as many of the vocabulary words to manifest through art as they wish---but they must deliberately make their own colour and style choices and take their time---learning patience and quality work is big goal for this cohort.

Saturday May 5, 2012

Kindergarten: today students are going to do a very fun, very messy cross curricular project:: sand art names! This  project will strengthen three key points of learning: creativity through art, fine and gross motor skills and recognizing the importance of phonic blends in the English language. For example the name “Aida” as formed via A-I-da blend.
Pre-K: same project, heavily supervised.
