Welcome to Circle Time!

What is 'Circle Time'?

Both the Pre- Kindergarten and Kindergarten groups of students begin everyday with this special time. This special 'hello' is meant to introduce and get students used to the idea of a set daily routine. Using our special circle time chart (see picture) our routine consists of:

a.) Hello song
♪♫ ♪♫ "Hello everybody how are you? Hello everybody how are you? Well I am glad you are here today and we are going to learn and play hello everybody how are you? Hello _______(student's name) how are you? Well I am glad you are here today and we are going to learn and play, hello ______ (student's name) how are you?♪♫ ♪♫"

As we progress in our learning it is hoped that students will begin/learn how to greet eachother.

We then review some facts about the day....

b.) Teacher drected: Month, Day and Year, also the special letter of the week
c.) Student directed: weather outside, e.g is it cloudy or sunny today? Students then tell teacher in English what sort of clothes they need to wear to go outside. Student shows teacher on the weather wheel what sort of day it is.
d.) Student directed: students count and tell teacher how many types of colours are on the board.
e.) student directed: what sort of shapes are on the board, and what colour are they?

As we progress in our learning  students will also begin to recite concepts such as rhymes and spelling during this time.

Teacher then introduces the day's core activities....
